Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Affirm ("Affirm," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Affirm mobile application, related widgets, reminders, and optional Pro subscription features (collectively, the "App").
Affirm is designed to work primarily on your device. We do not require account creation, and the current App configuration does not include our own remote user-content storage service, advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs.
1. Information We Collect
Information stored on your device
When you use the App, it may store the following information locally on your device:
- your onboarding selections and category preferences
- your saved affirmations, favorites, and custom affirmations
- optional voice notes you record in the App
- optional images you attach to custom affirmations
- reminder schedules and notification preferences
- mood check-ins and streak history
- theme selections and widget preferences
- a cached indication of whether Pro is active on your device
This information is stored using on-device databases, local files, and device preferences.
Purchase and subscription information
If you purchase, restore, or manage an Affirm Pro subscription, purchase-related information is processed by third parties that support subscriptions and billing, including:
- RevenueCat
- Apple App Store
- Google Play
These providers may process transaction details, subscription status, app-user or device-related identifiers, and similar information needed to validate purchases, restore entitlements, prevent fraud, and keep your Pro access in sync. We do not receive your full payment card number.
Permissions and device access
Depending on the features you choose to use, the App may request access to:
- Microphone, so you can record optional voice notes for affirmations
- Photos or media library, so you can pick optional images for custom affirmations
- Notifications, so the App can schedule and deliver local reminders
- Widget-related platform storage, so the App can show selected affirmation content in supported home-screen widgets
Information you provide voluntarily
If you contact us through an app store listing or another support channel, we may receive the information you choose to include in your message.
2. How We Use Information
We use information handled by the App to:
- provide the App's core features
- save your preferences and custom content
- create reminders and keep widget content up to date
- save and play back optional voice notes and images
- restore and manage Pro subscription access
- maintain app security, support, and reliability
3. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information.
Because Affirm is designed as a local-first app, your custom affirmations, mood history, voice notes, images, and preferences are generally stored on your device rather than uploaded to our own servers.
Information may still be shared in limited situations:
- with RevenueCat, Apple, or Google when needed to process or restore subscriptions
- with other apps or services when you choose to share affirmation text or images using the App's sharing features
- when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security
4. Notifications, Widgets, and On-Device Visibility
If you enable notifications, reminder content may appear in device notifications according to your operating system settings.
If you enable widgets, selected affirmation content and related display preferences may be made available to the widget extension through platform-supported local storage. Widget content may be visible on your home screen or other device surfaces, depending on your device settings.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Custom affirmations and attached media remain on your device until you remove them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
- When you delete a custom affirmation, the App removes the associated local audio recording and image file from device storage.
- Reminder schedules, mood check-ins, streak history, widget settings, and similar preferences remain on your device until you overwrite or remove them, clear local app data, or uninstall the App.
- Subscription and purchase records kept by RevenueCat, Apple, or Google are retained according to those providers' own policies.
6. Your Choices
You can:
- decline microphone, photo, or notification permissions, though related features may not work as intended
- delete custom affirmations, attached images, and voice notes from within the App
- manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings
- uninstall the App to remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to your platform's backup, sync, or restore behavior
7. Third-Party Services
The App may rely on third-party services or platforms, including RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play, and any destination app you choose through external links or sharing features. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Children's Privacy
Affirm is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through our own backend services.
9. International Processing
If you use purchase-related features, RevenueCat, Apple, or Google may process information in countries other than your own. Any such processing is governed by those providers' policies and applicable law.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the effective date above and publish the revised version through the App, the relevant app store listing, or another appropriate channel.
11. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, please use the support contact listed on the relevant app store listing for Affirm.
